Finance and Accountant Manager/CFO – (Based in Chiang Mai or Bangkok)

BDF supports access to essential services for more than 1,500 vulnerable children and their families living in construction sites and slums. Through specifically tailored educational programs and flexible individual support, Baan Dek Foundation protects endangered children, enables families to become self-sustainable and provides opportunities for a better future.

Responsibilities of the advertised position:

BDF is seeking a new staff member to help improve our foundation operations in Finance and Accountant system. The position will work under direct supervision of the BDF Management Team. The main responsibilities of this role will include the following: 

Role and responsibilities include but are not restricted to:

  1. Financial Management
    1. Together with the Finance Team, draft policies and procedure to ensure efficient, transparent and ethical standards in the handling of finance within BDF
    2. Ensure that all legal requirements are met throughout all financial processes
    3. Support in preparing tax and social security documents and procedures
    4. Develop relations with donors / partners to support transparent communication and long term partnerships
    5. Support in the financials (policy, procedures, accounting) related to Dao Ethical Gift Company, a social enterprise initiative launched to support Baan Dek Foundation
  2. Accounting
    1. Supervise and support the Finance Team by handling the Foundation's petty cash. This includes the disbursement of advances and reimbursements of cash to staff
    2. Maintain that formal cash disbursal requirements are fulfilled as defined in the financial policies
    3. Handling the Foundation's incoming cash donations
    4. Ensure the receipt and financial practices are aligned to Thai Law and transparent ethical standards
    5. Accurately record all expenses into the petty cash register
    6. Maintain the accounts for all payments made and liaising with staff and suppliers as necessary
  3. Reporting and Budgeting
    1. Prepare financial budgets for proposals to donors
    2. Prepare financial reports for donors and internal use
    3. Work with the relevant staff to produce project budgets and forecasts as required
  4. Support Administration Human Resource Department:
    1. Support the Director of HR and Public Relations and work with Admin team in the development of general administrative processes
    2. Facilitation of communication on financial procedure among the team and with external partners / institutions
  5. Support implementation of local programs developed by Baan Dek Foundation:
    1. Whenever relevant, run educational activities with children designed to support mostly migrant communities working on construction sites

Qualifications:

Nationality:  Thai (or any legal resident of Thailand.  We are unable to provide a visa and work permit for this position).

Language: Native Thai, fluent spoken and written English is an important requirement

 

Education / ExperienceExperience related to accountancy or finance

  • Degree (Bachelor degree or equivalent) in a relevant academic field is a strong requirement
  • Experience of maintaining finance systems and procedures
  • Experience in team management
  • Skill in cash management (accounting and cash transaction)
  • Knowledge of current international accounting, procedures, standards and financial issues considered as an asset
  • Skill in preparing and maintaining accurate accounting records, financial statements and budgets considered as an asset

Working hours:  Full time - Monday to Friday with occasional weekend + evenings

Salary & Compensation: Starting at 50,000 THB (to be defined based on experience and qualifications).
